When you want great firewood we recommend the following:
1) For indoor use, Order your wood 6-12 months ahead of time before the coming winter So it has plenty of time to be dry and fully seasoned.
2) Once the wood is stacked: keep only the top of wood pile covered (to keep rain and snow off) but don't cover the sides of the pile as the wood needs airflow to help it stay dry.
3) Keep your wood stacked off the ground so it doesn't pickup moisture. Use a wood rack or pallets to help keep your wood dry.
4) Before starting your fire each night bring 5-10 pieces of wood indoors and allow it time to warm up to room temperature.
5) Start your fire with smaller sized pieces of firewood first and gradually add larger pieces as the flames begin to build.
